Shared hosting: the honest floor

Your site sits on a server with many others, sharing CPU, memory and IO. The provider handles everything below your files.   4. Can you restore a backup today, unaided? If not, that is the requirement to solve first.
  5. How much data leaves your site each month? On consumption billing this is the cost that surprises people.

Common mistakes

Buying a VPS for prestige. Unpatched servers are worse than shared hosting in every way that matters.

Assuming cloud is automatically faster. Architecture and caching decide speed; billing model does not.

Comparing headline monthly prices only. Renewal rates, egress and backup add-ons are where the real cost lives.
